Samuel’s expertise

Samuel provides advice on all aspects of private client law. He specialises in trusts including their variation and resettlement in addition to drafting wills, advising on occupation licenses, enduring powers of attorney and estate administration.  He also has experience advising boards of trustees of charitable trusts and updating the constitutions of incorporated societies.

Samuel frequently appears in the Family Court on behalf of clients in relation to applications under the Protection of Personal Property Rights Act 1988.

A large part of his practice involves advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries in regard to discretionary trusts and deceased estates.  He has acted in a growing number of settlements recorded by way of family arrangement which has avoided costly, uncertain and time-consuming litigation.

Samuel enjoys getting to know and understand clients and providing tailored, practical advice with the aim of bringing clients peace of mind, knowing their legal affairs are in order.

He has presented a number of papers for the Auckland District Law Society and New Zealand Law Society and is a past member of the ADLS Trusts committee.

When not assisting clients, Samuel enjoys anything related to the outdoors and is a keen swimmer and attendee at his local gym.  Catching up with friends and playing guitar are also high on the list of after work activities.
