Dave Mallard

Debt Recovery

Dave brings more than two decades of hands-on experience in debt recovery, investigations and dispute resolution. With a key eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to achieving real results.

Dave’s expertise

Dave began his career in the early 2000s working at the coalface of debt collection - carrying out door knocks, serving documents, conducting investigations and undertaking repossessions. From there, he moved into a collection call centre, quickly progressing into management before taking responsibility for the organisation’s legal recovery portfolio.

Dave subsequently joined Turner Hopkins, where he spent 10 years as an integral member of our Dispute Resolution team. His career has also included managing an Auckland law firm and serving as General Manager of an investigations and debt collection business. He is also a Licensed Private Investigator.

After taking some time away from the industry to focus on family, Dave has returned to Turner Hopkins with a clear brief: to reinvigorate and grow our debt recovery practice.

That breadth of experience gives Dave a particularly practical perspective. He understands that successful debt recovery is not simply about pursuing every available legal remedy. It is about assessing the debtor, the value of the debt, the likelihood of recovery and the commercial reality of each situation.

Pragmatic, commercially minded and highly experienced, Dave works with clients to identify the most effective route to recovery - whether that involves early intervention, negotiation, investigation or formal legal enforcement.
