Mike’s expertise

"Turner Hopkins has been in existence for over 90 years, since 1923, "says Mike, "and it has been very satisfying to be a part of that legacy." When he first joined Turner Hopkins it was a small suburban firm spread over a number of offices providing general legal services for its local communities. While general law for North Shore communities remains a key part of Turner Hopkins core business, the firm has grown to employ over 40 people involved in areas as diverse as business law, employment law, disputes resolution, family law and immigration law,  "It's been quite a ride," says Mike, an avid surfer.

Mike's particular patch involves business or commercial law, commercial or residential property, and trusts, wills and estates. "I particularly love working with businesses," says Mike. "It's particularly satisfying to assist businesses to have the right financial and ownership structure to grow profitably, and to help them protect themselves against business risks." Mike also enjoys working with property, ranging from modest residential conveyancing to large commercial property developments. Mike and his wife Brenda also "walk the walk", having undertaken a number of successful property developments in their own right.

Mike Newdick's family has resided on the North Shore for 75 years, since his grandparents first purchased a holiday bach at Campbells Bay. Mike did his secondary schooling at Takapuna Grammar, and he, along with wife Brenda live in Milford. Mike can't think of anywhere better than the North Shore to live and work, and is actively involved in local community activities. Mike always has a weather eye on the surf forecast, and out of work hours can often be found chasing the waves on either coast or on Great Barrier Island, his favourite getaway.
